Williamstown Theatre Festival is an influential regional theatre in the Berkshires that has originated numerous Broadway hits and Pulitzer winners. I first worked with Williamstown as their Lead Graphic Designer during their 2019 summer season, during which I guided the marketing team through a constant stream of projects. After the summer, the company invited me to head their 2020 season’s design development and visual direction.
I worked closely with Williamstown’s communications team to design the overall identity for the summer season and key art for seven productions. For my design direction, I viewed each show’s art as its own sort of performance separate from but related to the live performance. Once we finalized the art, I animated and sound designed a sizzle reel season overview to further promote this design direction.
We completed the season branding and art over several months and many revisions, but the Festival was unfortunately unable to proceed as planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the season was later adapted into the Season on Audible.
