Central Synagogue is one of the oldest, most prominent reform synagogues in the United States and the world. Located in New York, Central builds on centuries of rich history in its diverse programming, which serves more than 2,000 families.
I began collaborating with the synagogue at the height of COVID. For the first time, Central had to cater its content to a virtual audience since an in-person congregation was unsafe. To unite these virtual offerings under one umbrella, I designed an identity that referenced the ritual arch as a symbolic metaphor for a portal into the synagogue, such that congregant’s homes could become their own sacred spaces.
